Does my baby need a faster flow teat?

My baby is 3mo. He is on the smallest teat size and was doing well on these since birth until two weeks ago when he started leaking from the mouth when drinking, not finishing his bottles and eating less than usual. He doesn’t take “longer” to finish the bottle, he just doesn’t finish it at all. Makes a lot of noises when drinking and is very fussy. My question is should I go up a size considering these are signs the flow is “too fast” according to articles online?

If he’s leaking then it doesn’t mean he needs a faster flow. You’ll waterboard him as he is leaking from a slow flow. Have you checked for tongue tie ? Get him checked for that maybe as it is easier to do when they’re little than when they’re older. Also it could be he’s just exploring the bottle now that he’s older and understands more and plays with his milk. As long as he’s having the same amount of wet nappies as usual, I wouldn’t put much thought into it because that means he’s not dehydrated 💙 but do check him for tongue tie. I suspected my son had it when he was 1 month old because he was leaking and he did and we got it fixed xx

@Shay he is 3 almost 4 months he never leaked until 2 weeks ago and stopped eating as much he would get bored is putting a lot of effort to take the milk out. He doesn’t have a tongue tie and has always had a great latch even when I was breastfeeding.

Oh okay, I would then blame it on the fact that he’s more aware now and he’s just exploring! Babies love to explore and when they are distracted, they don’t bother with food. Is it ALL the time or only a few times a day that he spills? Not sure if you feed him before he sleeps, but if you do, does he not spill then?
