Teat Sizes

My baby boy is 8 weeks old and still on size 1- I read that 2 is much quicker so I might hold off as my little boy is feeding well. Could always try for a feed and see how they get on xx

My baby girl is 8 weeks today and we’ve been on size 2 tests for a couple of weeks now, I changed teats as she was taking ages on size 1 and falling asleep on the bottle everytime

Your baby will tell you! When they're feeding, listen to how often they take in the milk, and how often they swallow. When they're still good on their teat size it will be a comfortable mix of suck and swallow (this sounds terrible but clear your minds people!). When they need an increased teat size they will be doing suck suck suck swallow as they need more effort to get enough milk out. They might be fussier, try to re latch more often. My girl is almost 7 weeks, still comfortable on the smallest teat size, she still does suck swallow suck swallow (when she has a good latch). Hope that's helpful haha very normal for a baby to take a long time for a feed, if they're comfortable there's no need to change.

@Sarah what’s considered ages? My baby is 6 weeks and takes sometimes half hour with burps to drink 4-4.5oz

@Zarah I would say half hour is a long time to drink 4/4.5oz with burps. Is your baby falling asleep whilst drinking it?

@Sarah sometimes she does. I’d say she averages maybe 20 mins for 4ish oz with size 1 teat

@Zarah just see how she goes over the next few days or week and then change tests. Or if you think she’s ok keep her on size 1 x
