Sharps bin not accepted anywhere

I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant and now I have three sharp bins which I cannot dispose of because the hospital does not accept it. My council arranged a pick up but no one ever shows, My GP does not accept it and none of the pharmacies have accepted it. Has anyone come across a similar problem where their sharps bin is not accepted anywhere?

I haven’t gotten a sharps bin but the last time I did have one they told me to contact the number on my bin, does yours not have one?

That’s bizarre. I took mine to hospital today and just gave it my midwife who took it and got rid of it… can you ask your diabetes nurse/team about how to dispose?

My midwife took Mike when she came over after I had baby. Could you contact yours and ask them to take for you?

The diabetes midwife wouldn't accept it. She said that I had to call my council. I called them twice to arrange collection and no one showed up twice.

@Em how bizarre. Seems a stupid system. No need for somebody to come Collector when they have all those medical waste bins at a hospital! I’m sorry but I’m out of ideas if they won’t give you a reasonable answer

In my last pregnancy I gave mine to a midwife. I won’t see her this time but the diabetes team told me they will dispose of it so I can take it to them. Pharmacy’s used to take them but for some reason they don’t now. And when I tried my local council previous there’s never been an option for a one time collection only a regular set up. I think they make it so hard!
