I personally think our littles are too young to be having things that are heavily processed like that every day. My little one has tried a little sausage and mash one time when we were out in a restaurant and has a few of our chips every now and then to nibble on, otherwise we don’t do processed food other than the occasional baby ready meal when we’re in a rush or waiting for a food shop! There are soooo many easy recipes for baby out there, often my little ones dinners consist of pasta/rice and hidden veggie sauces/homemade cheese sauce or fish/meats and veg etc, day time he has little sandwiches, toast, pasta, scrambled egg, homemade pinwheels or fishcakes. Search BLW on instagram and there’s some lovely things to try.
@Vanesa what happen if i give fried foodor airfry
Well this is about to make me cry. Please please please do not feed your infant ultra processed foods and food high in sugar or salt. If it comes wrapped in plastic and contains ingredients that the average person does not have in their kitchen (preservatives, nitrates, and emulsifiers for example) then it’s ultra processed. Your baby needs variety in their diet to get essential minerals and vitamins to thrive, esp once you’re done breastfeeding. Like the others have said, there are SO many cheap and easy baby meals. I steam carrots and parsnips which cost just pence per bag, kidney beans straight out of the tin, chicken livers, sauerkraut, frozen green beans, frozen fruits, canned oysters, tuna, or sardines in water, I’ll steam a chicken breast and just give some shredded chicken, Greek yogurt or kefir, a Mandarin orange, frozen spinach melted with some butter, lentils, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, scrambled eggs. So many options that are easier and cheaper than sausages& chips.
Obviously I don’t know your situation but if you need assistance buying fresh healthy food, you can apply for healthy start. https://www.find-government-grants.service.gov.uk/grants/healthy-start#
Try to avoid giving salt as long as you can as it can risk kidney damage for babies. Sugar is addictive, bad for teeth and immune system etc. Honey can lead to infant botulism. If you are not into cooking and find recipes overwhelming there are great pouches that are packed with healthy veggies. Some of the ideas above are great and super easy to make you can make a batch and freeze them to save you time in the week and money. You could always ask your health visitor if ever confused as so much info out there! Xx
My girl has different food nearly every day. I let her have a treat every now and then but it’s presented as that and she loves her fruit and veg so much I’m really lucky. But if we go out she does have some hash brown ! They don’t have to be cooked badly :) I usually do finger food for lunch and a meal at dinner, she had katsu curry ( Ella’s kitchen ) today. We go out and eat often but she sticks to healthy options :) xx
I wouldn’t give fried food or salty /sugary foods to my little one..but everyone does how believe is better. There are so many recipes available out there baby blw or puree really quick ones
