I haven’t tested allergens yet. I give her baby porridge every morning a while after her first bottle now and have been for about a week (7 months on the 15th). She doesn’t have loads but she has a good amount I think. I give her 2 ice cube amounts of puréed veg in the day at the moment. I’m trialling another ice cube amount today so 3 in total. You’re not behind there is going to be a lot of trial and error at this point. And this 3 day rule thing I’ve seen on here I’ve never heard of before and I’m not doing it personally x
I’m yet to try 🥜 & not doing 🍤🍣 Did a slither of egg✔️ Wheat ✔️ Dairy ✔️ I tend to do 1-2 Breakfast harder to do what with her 🍼& 💤
Im only giving her bits at tea time, rest of the day is milk. There is no need for them to be on 3 meals a day right now, milk should still be the main source. The aim is 3 meals a day by the age of 1 so you build up to it slowly With allergens, the risk of allergy increases if given later so id start to slowly bring those in. Maybe try full fat yoghurt for breakfast to test dairy? Scrambled eggs are quite soft and can introduce a lumpier texture Ive done egg, wheat and cheese so far. Her faves are sweet potato sticks, mango and pizza wraps! Hates broccoli😂
https://amzn.eu/d/cGA1BPw I can’t recommend this book enough! I read this and followed her plan and now Baby Girl is eating twice a day and absolutely loving her food!
One food a day is mainly for the allergens and not other foods Allergens- I need to do nuts & fish. Fish will be later this week as we have salmon for dinner one night Egg - I done omelette & scrambled eggs (different days) Wheat - weetabix Dairy - cheese & yoghurt
I'm doing one meal a day too... mostly purees and some textured foods, breakfast only atm. Plan to increase gradually to 2 meals then 3 as she turns 7 and 8 months old. Have given broccoli, cheese, cauliflower, rice, porridge, banana and carrots, yet to do more and follow the 3 day rule. Allergens I'm yet to try are nuts , egg, wheat (weetabix or oatibix) and fish. Take your time mama you're doing absolutely fine its all a trial and error
My HV gave me a guide for weaning, first 3 days you introduce veg as a meal, then if that goes well introduce fruit so they have 2 meals then if that goes well introduce breakfast then mixed fruit and veg then chicken and fish after 6 days textured foods. We are currently away on holiday so have slowed weaning down for the week. I don’t think you can really be behind, I feel like everyone does different things
@Hayley thansk for replying. Can I ask why you aren't doing the test for the shellfish? I'll need to look into allergens
@Amy thank you! I have just ordered this for next day so will have a good read over it tomorrow!
@Gemma thanks, for the weetabix do you just use their normal milk to soften it?
I don’t eat it 😋 So won’t be doing meat either. If she wants to eat it when she’s older she can. I won’t be making it tho.
Here’s the allergens: Cows milk and milk products ✅ Eggs ✅ Peanuts Tree nuts (There are 9 tree nuts that again, need to be offered one at a time, following the one day rule and are as follows: - Almonds - Cashews - Pistachios - Hazelnuts - Pine nuts - Macadamia nuts - Brazil nuts - Walnuts - Pecans Soy Seafood ( There are 2 categories - finned fish and shellfish which is made up of molluscs (oyster, squid) and crustaceans( prawn, crab, lobster). Wheat ✅ Seasme I will be testing finned fish but not shellfish as I don’t eat it. I intend to introduce nuts soon by grounding nuts and putting into porridge or yoghurt x
I’ve used both formula and cows milk. I used formula until I had tested dairy x
The earlier you introduce allergens the better but don’t feel pressured, you might just want to get baby used to food. I’ve found milk and wheat the easiest, baby had scrambled egg and gagged a lot so I’ve found some purees with egg in them to also incorporate egg. They say once you introduce an allergen to offer it 2/3 times a week as often reactions take a while to come out. WHO advice has changed, you can introduce a new allergen every 24 hours not 3 days but that’s just choice and how comfortable you feel. I give breakfast everyday and try to do lunch or dinner it just depends. She really doesn’t eat much which is fine, I have found she eats way more when she’s not had milk but I’ve only ever done that twice as milk should prioritise food. It’s hard, but you’ve got this x

@Amy I gave my baby cow and gate creamy porridge multiple times now does that count as testing cows milk as it says it has skimmed milk in it? i also read someone say it had soy in it
@Abi yep the baby porridges class as testing milk, some also have wheat in them. & yes it contains soy lecithin but weirdly the packaging doesn’t suggest it’s an allergen - not sure why. I’d likely test soya “properly” in something that it’s rich in like hummus or some breads have it in / soya sauce (not sure baby would take to that 😂) x
@Amy amazing thank you! X
My babies just turned 7 months and we do 1 meal a day. But I will be upping it to 2 meals soon. At 7 months it can be 2 to 3 times a day. Huckleberry days 1 to 2 a day so advise varies place to place
I did about 3 weeks of one meal a day, started off with a puree and worked up to lumpy mash while she got used to chewing and moving food around her mouth. I also offered finger foods along side. I introduced probably 2 allergens a week but leave a gap of three days between each as reactions don't always show up immediately. Once you've introduced an allergen without reaction you should.keep giving it regularly x
