Thank you for your quick reply having a mini meltdown here. It’s just a whole load of information to process in a few minutes. The reason I had the test is because baby is in the 99th centile. I’m just worried that he’s going to be poorly when he comes out. Awh thank you I defo think I will do x
There's some great GD groups on here with loads of info on! The most important thing is they've found out now and it can be monitored so you and baby can be kept safe as possible xx
@Katie it's a lot to process and I found that no matter how many times they said it wasn't it took me a couple of weeks to accept that it wasn't anything I did. Little one has been absolutely fine, on the 55th percentile on my last scan I have another growth scan on Friday so will see how he's doing. Tracking the blood sugars is alot of trial and error but do not hesitate to get on touch with the team with any concerns even if you think it's silly because my experience anyway they are a bit difficult to get hold of and I realised I needed the meds a lot quicker than they did and I wish I had pushed harder sooner so I didnt make myself so unwell hardly eating anything with the spikes
Hi Katie, sent you a DM x
Hi hun, really feel for you, it’s not what any of us wanted for pregnancy and can be upsetting to have the diagnosis. You’re welcome to message me, I was diagnosed at 28 weeks, currently 35 weeks. I’d also recommend joining the GDUK Facebook group as this and the website is where I’ve found the support and information needed. https://www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk
Thank you so much for all your responses it’s really reassured me. X
Yep I’m on insulin 4 times a day now, as blood sugar has just been creeping up and up. To begin with I felt very overwhelmed, my advice is take each day as it comes and also joining the GD UK Facebook group has helped me feel not quite so alone. Good luck 🫶
@Gem oh bless you that must be a lot to deal with. Kudos to you. Yeah I’m trying to process it all at the moment and waiting for my monitor thing to come through the post xx
Hi Katie, I’m 34 weeks + 1, and have had GD for the last month or so. Totally normal to freak out and feel depressed about it. It’s pretty miserable. I tried everything with diet but my morning blood glucose level was higher than they want, so they’ve given me 500mg metformin in the evening. My baby is currently right about the 50th percentile, so exactly average and I feel if I can keep this up, then that will be fine. Happy to chat/rant about GD 😂 if you need to
