We have about 2 of each tog/size, but majority have been bought from Vinted!
For newborn and early stages I would say get 3, because they’re very likely to throw up or leak on it at some point. I went by ‘one in the wash, one to wear and one spare’ 🤪 And like Elizabeth said, buy the rest as you go 👌🏼
I’ve got most of ours on Vinted. If it’s a newborn in winter I’d get a couple of 2.5 tog and then maybe one 1 or 1.5 tog in case of warmer nights/if you’re going away (we’ve found hotels/holidays cottages are often either quite warm or quite cold)
I’d say go for the season they’re due in so I had 2 2.5 togs for my autumn baby- winter and then when it got warmer I bought the different togs xx
I would just buy the 0-6 month ones to start with, 2 in 1.0 tog and 2 in 2.5 tog. We found they were quite generous in size and actually fit my boys til they were 6 months even though they were both in 12-18 month clothing by that point. Then you can buy the bigger sizes later on when you know what works for you.
Would second @Demelza ‘s approach. We used the 0-6 from the beginning
Just get a swaddle bag/velcro one x1 incase like mine babies too small for anything and 2-3 grobags in 0-3 1x 1 tog 2 x 2.5 tog (they’re smaller necked than supermarket bags and from 7 or 8lb but still long n big enough if you end up with a big baby) n then buy 0-3 supermarket style ones as you go once babies born maybe grabbing one ultra cute one you spot when out while pregnant if you’re tempted, you do end up with loads tho, on a bad night of sick or poonamis my daughter easily got through 4-5 so I’ve learnt its best to stock up once they’re in the 0-6 and 6-12 sizes and not outgrowing as quickly but you defo need 2 minimum washed n ready every night just in case 🤣
Only buy a few and see how you go. They never worked out for my boy so I’m glad I didn’t stock up on tonnes of them! He slept in a normal onesie suit or sometimes a muslin swaddle when he was young
They are pretty expensive so I would buy a 2-3 in newborn size (in winter tog if you’re expecting soon) and then just buy as you go. You do end up with a lot of them but I’d still say buy as you go (supermarkets sell them and they’re easy to buy online).
