I frequently burp my baby. Sometimes it helps, and other times it doesn't. Nonetheless, I believe you should at least try this, especially in the first few months, as they often experience colic.

I have to burp my breastfed baby quite often. I think they can require less burping but that’s not the case with mine I have to burp him inbetween feeds sometimes twice!

I do but not as often as if she were using a bottle. However she burps more now that she’s 4 months old compared to when she was newborn

I was also told this when my son was born and breastfeeding. But it caused so many issues that on day 6 I started burping him and it resolved all our feeding issues. Will be burping my next breastfed baby x

I purely breastfeed, baby is 8 weeks, burp all the time. After every feed. didn’t burp too much for the first week though.

@Kirsten yes! She’s having issues now at 3 weeks! Definitely start to burp her now

I was told the same but my lo definitely needed to be burped or at least be held upright for 15-20 mins

Mine didn’t seem to have any trouble burping and farting on his own lol so I didn’t do much burping

Yes it’s true. But it’s good to start making it a good habit.

At newborn stage I would half way through burp my baby because he has acid reflux. It cut down on the spit ups. Now I just do it right before I switch to the other side because my son eats on both sides.

I was told this too in the hospital but I ended up burping my son anyway as he had bad reflux

I always try to burp regardless because gas going up is much easier than trapped gas trying to go down! He burps a lot so I wouldn't even say breastfed babies burp less. He's EBF :)
