Mam teats

So my little boy is 7 weeks 5 days but seems to be getting really frustrated with how slow the teat is and getting tired out from it, he’s using mam bottles size 1 teat atm, I’m not sure I can move him to a size 2 as it says that it’s for 2 months plus and he won’t be 2 months for another 8 days. Any advice would be appreciated🩵

Mine was the same and I moved him to a size 2 early as well! Absolutely you can do it, just pace feed him so he doesn’t drink too quickly x

I think it’ll be okay to move him across to bigger size teat a week early! Only if still BF as well then I’ve been told to stay on the smaller size teats so baby still has to work for the flow like they would if BF x

My little boys been on size 2 MAM teats since birth. Was recommended by my midwife. Never had any issue with it x

Mine went on size 2 at 7 weeks as well. Stuff like this is always a guidance not the rule. Give it a go, it'll take a minute for ur baby to get use to it so try for 2 days, they can usually sputter a bit at first but if it doesn't get better after 2 days go bk to size 1 n then try again in a week x

I personally think things like ages on teats are just a guide. Same happened with my daughter but she’s stayed in size 2 even though size 3 is like age 6m+ or something like that and she’s nearly a year. It’s all just baby dependent I think x

@Jas he is still BF but he seems to do that fine and easy and yet is starting to struggle and get frustrated with the bottle🥲

How about give the bigger size a go see how he gets on? If he’s starting to have increased wind or bad tummy etc could go back down a size? Or if you notice he starts to get fussy on the breast when you go up a size you can always review? You can always get in touch with the breast feeding network for advice too! X
