Weaning - tongue thrust

My baby will be six months old in a couple of days so we decided to start weaning this week. She can sit unaided and shows an interest in our food. We tried her with pureed vegetables this week and she just spits it out (with a ton of salvia) and fights away from the spoon so I stop. Is this a normal part of the weaning journey?

My little doesn't like spoons so blw all the way

We have had exactly the same. We tried his first taste earlier this afternoon, and that was his exact reaction x

My LO does this when he’s tired and not in the mood for food. Or if he’s not enjoying that particular food, pea puree got this reaction 🤣

@Lisa mushy peas did this to my little one as well🤣

Yes sounds very normal! They are just exploring tastes at the moment, they still get everything they need from milk, so just go with the flow

@Riley haha! 🤣

Tongue thrust reflex disappearing is one of the signs of readiness for solids so it might be just that your little one needs an extra week or two? X
