Homeschooling in CA

I’m going to be very vulnerable with this post, but this has been lingering on my mind for the longest time My partner completely disagrees with sending the kids to public school / registering them for school at all. My son is about to turn 5 and my daughter is 2 We live like a gold plated rusty cup because on the surface everything looks and operates normally but I keep feeling like in a matter of a few years reality will hit us hard if I don’t figure things out myself. My partner doesn’t have a steady income job and neither do I, we have govt food support but we barely make enough to even cover bills. My mom helps me cover up but I can’t lean off of her for money like that. We bring up “school” to my partner and it never leads to anything fruitful. He is open to homeschool. But he doesn’t think about it or consider it at all and has refused to talk about it, and the time is nearing when it should be important to really consider these things for the kids, so I am trying to understand the information regarding homeschooling in CA from google myself but honestly I still have a hard time putting together the logistics of how and where to start, do we need money to start and continue, if there is legality’s, any paperwork, how everything works, I don’t have money or friends who know about this so I can only hope for a patient online friend. Any response is greatly appreciated.

Hslda.org is a great resource for finding out the legal side for each state. As far as I know there are free ways to homeschool

I'm brand new to homeschooling but I have friends who homeschool for free. In my state, WA, you don't have to document anything until later on.. like 7 or 8 years old?? I'm still not sure. I'm using a curriculum for my kindergartener that gives all of the work online with basic daily lesson plans and for pre-K and K it's only like $60 or $80 for the year, including access to support. The website listed above by Joi is what they recommended for checking my state laws as well.

@Sarah what curriculum do you use?

@Jessica it's 100% Bible based, so not for everyone. It's called Homeschooling Torah.
