EBF bottle refusal

Does anyone have any tips and tricks on giving an EBF baby a bottle of expressed milk? My little boy is 7 weeks today and since last Sunday, we’ve tried giving him one bottle a day, but he instantly cries and gets himself into a massive state. We’re currently using the MAM bottles with a size 1 teat, we started on 0 but he seemed even less interested and more upset with how slow the flow is (he usually drains my boob in 10 mins, he’s a very fast feeder!) My partner is the one trying the paced bottle feeding, but we’re having no success so far!

Following as my 8 week old boy just suddenly started refusing his bottles (he’s combi fed) , we’ve tried mam but gave him a sore tummy, tommee tippie was great but he just spits them out now :(

Nuk perfect match bottles are supposed to be very good at mimicking the breast so maybe give those a go??

I’m the same. My little girl is nearly 10 weeks and is still refusing a bottle, I’ve been told just to keep trying every day and she should helpfully take it xx

Different topic but when do you express to build up milk to try? X

@Eryn oh no!! Oh bless him, hopefully he goes back to them soon! X

@Chloe thank you! I’ll have a look later x

@Tasha it’s so frustrating isn’t it! EBF is great for us, but I know down the line I would like some freedom haha xx

@Kim when he is feeding on one boob in the morning, when I’m fully awake, I hand pump the other at the same time and produce about 5oz which I pop into a bottle for him to try later on. Usually I do about 2oz in the bottle and the rest into a bag for freezing x

@Hannah I’m the exact same!! I have my works Christmas do next month and as of right now I can’t go, but don’t want to put pressure on getting her to take a bottle cos feel like that’s making it worse that she’s not🤣 xx

@Hannah thanks! I think he would kick my pump off 🤣

The lansinoh bottles are the only ones recommended by my lactation consultant as BF friendly ones as they resemble the nipple the most. They were the only ones my eldest ever took too. Much softer teat and less plasticky

Lansinoh^ used with my first boy Also Medela just started using with my baby now and you don’t need to pace feed either as the milk doesn’t sit in the teat at all they have to draw it out completely

@Hannah no problem. My lactation consultant recommends those bottles xx

You could try holding it under his nose so he can smell the milk, or moving up the next teat if he is a speedy one!

Thanks everyone! We’re still persevering, but no luck so far 🤣 Definitely will look into the other bottles suggested x

Just following on from this, we’ve found this article to have some helpful tips if anyone is interested! https://www.rachelobrienibclc.com/blog/what-to-do-when-your-breastfed-baby-wont-take-a-bottle-introducing-a-bottle-part-3/ We’ve also been told having baby lying sideways (like he would when breastfeeding) is also super helpful!
