Is this then nursery funded by the state at this age?
In the UK, for nursery they can start at any time, funded for 15 hours a week until September 2025 and then for 30 hours thereafter. School reception will start from September 2027.
@Holly lots of schools have pre schools attached for 3 year olds, I think that’s what the original poster meant.
Nursery's are different as they do Sep, Jan and April enrolment. So it will be thr term after they are 3
@Panisha it is but only school hours and term time only. I don’t know about all schools, but, at our local school, we also have to pay for lunchtime supervision. It’s about £3 a day, I think.
It’s the term after they turn 3 so our March babies can start after Easter 2026. They will get 15 hours if you don’t work or 30 hours if your working. This is free funded by the state nursery. If you’re working then you can be eligible for funded hours right now. Hope it makes sense x
They can usually attend the term after they turn 3. So that’s after Easter 2026 but I think I’ll wait until the September because they’re term time only and loads of the holiday clubs round here don’t take children until they turn 4.
