Congrats! I found out the sex at 10 Weeks with genetic blood testing !
@Sarah amazing hopefully they will see me before Christmas and not after 🤞
Not sure where you are based, but in Australia they recommend the NIPT testing which can be done as early as 10 weeks. It’s a blood test that checks baby for chromosome abnormalities and a few other things… as well as gender. You could look into this? It’s 99.9% accurate too.
My appointments were always exact and I think given the 20 week appointment is the most important one I would expect you’d need to be 20 or + for developmental reasons. I found out the gender of my baby at 16 weeks with a private scan. I think they’re only about £30
I had mine at 18 weeks. Got all the measurements but a couple of the heart so had to go back a few weeks later.
They’ll book your scan for as close to 20 weeks as possible, as they need everything to be well developed to get accurate measurements/readings. It’s certainly unlikely you’d get it as early as 18 weeks and even 19 weeks I’d imagine. It’s also important to remember that they may not be able to determine the baby’s sex at the scan, dependent on position (this happened to me, and they won’t rescan just for that as the purpose of the scan isn’t to determine the sex). You can however pay for a private gender scan from 16 weeks onwards so this may be a route you want to choose - I think they’re around £75 or so x
You could book a private gender scan, we done that when I was 16 weeks 😊. What a lovely Xmas surprise 🥰. xx
Yes also did private scan at 16 weeks x
You can book a private scan from 16 weeks to find out the gender about £75 - £90 depending on where you go xx
@Tash uk, I had a blood test for down syndrome but they don't test for gender in UK that early, not that I'm aware of anyway. Thanks x
Thanks ladies ❤️ I'll see what midwife says at 16 week app and if I'm not able too, I'll look into paying private. Just really want to surprise the family with the gender on Christmas day x
I had mine at 19w no issues with finding out the gender or getting measurements
I had mine at 19w2d, just depends on what appointments they have available. We found out the gender then - but you can book a private scan from 16w to find out too
Hey OP - just to say we do gender test in the UK from 10 weeks but just not on the NHS. Private clinics, like Window to the Womb, where you can also get private gender scans, do the gender blood testing too! Also you shoulve had your 20W scan booked in after your 12W one. So ring your hospital, not your midwife, to ask when your scan will be and if it has been booked yet or if you need to manually do it

If it’s within budget, you can book a private scan that can tell you the gender from 16 weeks
@Alexandra thank you, I had a letter for my 12 week scan 2 weeks after seeing midwife so I assume she booked it. I haven't had one for 20 week yet but I do have my 16 week scan on the 27th so maybe she'll do it then? I'll phone and enquire tomorrow. And if they can't see me before 20 weeks I'll have a look at private like you said. Thank you x
I’m having to do my 20 week scan way late bc they just didn’t hav anything available anywhere! Loads of preggos right now!
I’m already 22 weeks right now and the scan isn’t until Dec 4th! But my doctor seems fine with it
I had my 20 week scan at 19 weeks and they asked did I want to know gender
