Makes sense, they have higher expenses and need to make more money. It’s not great, but it is what it is unfortunately. And I’m about to have 2 of them in nursery for the next 9 months🥲 I know everyone moans about the cost, and the lack of funded hours etc. but I personally feel the silver lining for us as a family this time around is funding from 9mo, rather than having to wait until 3yo again!
My silver lining is that we only have until August but I already pay £70 a day and £13 for funded days ( which I know isn't as bad as many) but my wage isn't going up to help with these rises
Our nursery has a rise every April due to minimum wage and NI. What was the rise in October for at your nursery? My little one does 9-5 Monday to Friday but 3 days are free for the 30 hours contribution. Daily fee is £54 at the moment. He starts school in September 🙌🏻
£70! Ouch, and £13 on the funded days. My nursery is nice and subsidises everything on the funded days.
Price rise in October was to help with rising costs and the funded hours, they are struggling as what they get from the government doesn't cover costs. Funded days went from £8.50 to £13.50 and full days & £63 to £70 which may not sound a lot but spread it over the days of a month it is
Yeah, I’m about to go on maternity leave and I’m pulling my toddler out of childcare for a year. It’s £126 a day without funding, around 70 with funding. I’ll think about it on my return if I negotiate a promotion considering I’ll have 2 in daycare then.
It makes sense. Our nursery have just put their fees up in Sept but they agree to only review fees every 12 months so it won’t go up again until the 30 hours kicks in fortunately
@Sarah wow how can they justify those prices
That’s just what it cost in central London. Overheads, rental prices, staffing, deliveries, longer operating hours for office workers. It’s a brilliant nursery though and I’ve cried about pulling her out, she’s loved it for nearly 2 years now 😢 mine isn’t even the most expensive one.
Plus in April minimum wage will go up, which lots of nursery staff are unfortunately on.
