Doula - benefits?

I've just hired a doula whose gonna help prep me and my husband before the birth. But not actually be there for the labour. My husband doesn't like that I spent the money on it and doesn't see the value in it the way I do... is there any advice anyone can offer?

No advice, but I’m looking to hire a doula as well! I’m looking more for the birth and post birth support because it is such a big change. I’d say, you hired a birth doula for a reason so what were you looking for exactly? 😊 Was it exercise/nutrition for pregnancy?

Yes I hired her for pre birth support, consultations, guidance and education. Then a little support after birth too.

That’s great! I think that is a very worthwhile investment ❤️ you’ll be confident going into your birth, I think!

why won’t she be there for the birth? my doula was a godsend during labor seriously couldn’t have done it without her. but during pregnancy, she taught us different labor positions, how my man could support me during labor, common interventions in the hospital and how to avoid them if you want, how to best advocate for yourself in the hospital, general knowledge on all things labor and birth. either way i’m sure she will benefit you, and your husband may not understand why it’s important. my man kinda thought it was a waste too but ultimately she’s there for you not him

@Izzie I just want my husband there for the birth as I want it also as a private bonding experience for us..but I want the doula to really help him have confidence on what to do, which will ease me knowing he's fully got me. Good to know your husband also wasn't as eager, maybe it's a man thing
