We’ve only applied for 1 school! His older sibling are there and we’re only in catchment for 2 schools so that’s definitely reduced the stress for us! If you have several your in catchment for rank them in order!
We are only putting down 2 as theres only 2 we would want my little one to go to
I only have 1 I really love and it’s out of catchment and we don’t stand a chance 😢 so first choice is the next best of the bunch that we saw, the rest of his application is strategically ranked- the second choice is a school we won’t get given on distance criteria but I work for the same Trust and they’ll go over PAN for staff children, but needs to be on my application so I can join the waiting list to be offered a place, and third choice is a school we don’t want but is our local, so that worst case scenario he gets given a place on our doorstep rather than local authority allocation to a school miles away! It’s not ideal, but it is what it is. Definitely use up all of your choices!
All our school choices are out of catchment, but having been to the schools and spoken to them they do have children from our village so really hoping we get our first choice of even second otherwise screwed for childcare. Still have 1 more school to go and see
I’m a little stressed as the school in our catchment that we really want her to go to is over subscribed. So lots of people in the catchment have been denied in previous years
It’s very stressful! We’re likely going to put our number 1 for a school not in our catchment - the head said we have a good chance as it’s a low birth year in our area. It’s weird as half our road is in the catchment but ours isn’t!
I’ve submitted our 3 choices - we’re basically guaranteed our number 1 choice so I’m not worrying too much but even if not I will be happy with my second choice and indifferent with my third (all 3 are catholic schools we are catholics) As you live in London putting only one choice could really hinder you - schools in cities can be very oversubscribed and their catchment areas can be tiny. You need to visit more schools, and also pick one you’re all but guaranteed a place at to avoid been given a school you really do not want miles away from your home
