Nuisance neighbor

So, I'm in a flat and the neighbour below me plays music so loud that my phone is able to identify the song and the bass from the music vibrates the chair I am sitting in. I am trying to work but struggling to concentrate as it's so annoying, if I wasn't working I wouldn't be able to watch TV as the music overpowers what I can hear, basically rendering my front room as inhabitable, does anyone have any experience in noise complaints, this is happening during the day so not sure on the rules for that. I would speak to them but recently we have had a run in with them where we asked them if they could stop smoking weed as the smoke comes into our flat (physically can see the smoke) but was met with the guy telling me he would bring his daughter round to "sort me out" and the "woman" threatening to smash my partner round the head with a hammer, as you can imagine I'm not in the mood for that behavior again. Any help or guidance of who to speak to for support would be appreciated, the council are insanely useless and the police will do nothing.

Not particularly helpful but sounds like it may be time to move. We raised noise complaints with our old neighbours and the council were absolutely useless. If you own and want to sell legally you have to advise prospective buyers(if they ask) if there has been an official complaint against neighbours so we decided against the official channels and sold up. If they rent then you could go to their landlord?

I’d involve the police as they have threatened bodily harm to you and your partner and especially with a LO this is not what you need. If the property is council I would ring them everyday and become annoying until they do something. Make a record of every incident (date and time) so you have a record for police
