Sometimes if I just leave the food infront of her she'll try it and eat it herself. If I try and feed her same reaction as your LO. Or if it's on my plate she wants it even if it's the same as her plate. So she eats of mine 🤷♀️ whatever works lol For the allergens, I was stressed too but her doctor was really good about keeping us calm for it. That more than likely of the allergy isn't in the family your baby won't have it. It helped calm me down about trying things. The only known allergy on either side is walnuts so it's easy to avoid those
My LB is my second and I was really laid back in my approach to allergens and my LG was fine and there are no food allergies in the family. However, I fed him egg and he reacted instantly. I would just say try and avoid feeding allergens later in the day, try them earlier. Make sure you’re not alone if possible. Having my partner helped to keep me level headed when I felt distraught and frightened at the sight of our LB with a blistered and swollen face. Finally, know the nearest place you can take them to get help. Take them as soon as possible and go with your gut. We’re now having allergy testing due to the severity of the reaction and a referral to a paediatric dietician to support in moving forwards with weaning and supporting reintroducing egg. I’m not going to lie, there were a few weeks where I was very anxious and my LB I think picked up on this and lost all interest in food. Now we have a support network I’m feeling a little more confident and (1)
He’s back into eating food and eating foods he’d previously had before the allergic reaction. He’s not interested in purées or overly mushy foods. I just place finger foods in front of him while we’re eating and he’s more interested in eating than if it’s just him eating on his own. (2)
Some babies just don't like purees! Mine is also one of them. I tried but like yours she has her mouth firmly shut & will turn her head away. I moved onto BLW as she didn't want purees. Either check out the Solid Starts app or BLW meals app they give you step by step how to prepare foods safely for baby. Start with veg, the apps have a checklist & even a food diary to try over 2 weeks to introduce different foods which really helps. To save time pick a few veg for the week, maybe carrot, parsnip, green beans, potato. Steam & prepare for for a few days. At this age I would say 1 carrot/parnsip/potato is more then enough as baby won't eat much ite more exposure to try new flavours and textures. The apps and also loads of info online on how to introduce allergens slowly and safely. @Amy suggestions really good, having someone with you plus knowing your local hospital/pharmacy helps. Some mums I know who are very anxious just tried out allergen foods in a hospital car park so they were right there if needed.
Sorry there's no quick fix but I promise it will get better. My LO loves her fruit from the beginning but now she will have toast, bagels etc and melt puffs, pasta. But it's taken 2.5 months for her to actively want to pick some veg and eat it. She also let me feed her some porridge for the first time this week - previously refused to be fed but I have a feeling its cos it had peanut butter in it! Cheeky! Main thing I would suggest is just to keep trying different foods. It also takes some babies several attempts before they like or will even try certain foods, some health experts say as much as x10. My LG didn't like potato or egg either at first but now she will lick and pick at it, maybe have a little but at least she's tasting it. If its possible let her have food to try while your other kids/you are eating. Sometimes my LG won't touch what's on her tray but as soon as I attempt to eat it she'll try. You got this 💜
At 10 months don’t worry about the allergies, we tried them all at the beginning of his weaning journey at 5 months and my son was allergic to eggs but grew out of it pretty quick! He IS however allergic to shellfish, milk, Parmesan and coconut. Knowing this enabled me to navigate things from early. Anything you’re worried about them reacting to, give them a small amount to start with, if no reaction happens then try more. I fed my son whatever we was eating for dinner and he loved spaghetti bolognaise at that age (hates spaghetti now). Don’t stress yourself about giving baby appropriate foods, just serve the same home cooked dinner you’re having but make the size and portion appropriate for their age.
Just curious if they did all this allergies back on the day? As generation before me keep mention we go over the top about it. But I’m wondering was it not a thing back then?
@Emma tbh I have a 16yr old i don't recall any of it lol But over the years it's highlighted more in thr news etc etc.
Hey ladies, Thankyou all for the kind words , I think what it all stems down to also is the social m3dia you see all these familes who've got it all together.....but yes behind closed doors ....who knows .... x
No advice but I could have written this myself. Seems like my story, I have a 10 month old LG too who is exactly the same. No matter what I make, how yummy I try to make things for her, she squishes with hands and throws with a look of disgust even without trying it. 😅 My Boy who is 3 yrs old now hasn’t given us such a tough time, he is still good with his meals but this girl is really testing my patience lol. She does grab any snacks that she would find in our hands and start eating it, loves biscuits more than anything but not her own meal. I always try to show her just baby biscuits and hide our ones as she would just snatch it if we don’t give her 😂 Having said that, she eats everything at her nursery though, maybe because all kids eat together? Not sure, but that’s about it. Once she is home, she pushes her food. 🤦🏻♀️
