I didn't know that this is something that I had to consent too! I had an assisted birth with my firstborn & I had a forceps delivery. I just remember being exhausted from failure to get my daughter out by pushing. The doctor wanted to try forceps & I'd had no epidural or, pain killers. I literally felt everything! Even with the numbing stuff, I felt cut & the forceps being inserted.
