I’m dreading it too. A friend said to strip baby off at the beginning to make it easier to get the 4 jabs. Also suggested chocolate for baby and mum! Baby doesn’t have chocolate so I’ll take her favourite snacks and have a bottle ready. Don’t know whether to give calpol before or after though .. then nurse told them to give it after when they’re home.
Just make sure hes in easy accessible clothes to his thighs and ask if they can all be done in legs (felt better the all limbs being injected) if you can take someone with you and they hold him to have it done then pass to you that worked for us x its not nice in the moment as they are so aware but afterwards my little girl was the best out of all of them 💕xx i found the toy distraction etc didnt work this time x
We just had ours!! It’s 4 jabs, the nurse did them so quick, it was over in about 50 seconds!! He cried when she did them but as soon as I pulled him leggings back up & cuddled him, he immediately forgot! It was soooooo much easier & better than I’d hoped xxx
My LB had his this morning and was completely fine afterwards. I gave him calpol before we went and I think it helped a lot. He has been clingy and slightly off his food but other than that he’s been the same old happy little boy he usually is 😊
Odd suggestion, but do you still breastfeed at all? Sometimes it works well if they're thigh jabs and the nurse does it while they're feeding, it's immediate comfort for baby. Often recommended for 6 month jabs. Bottle or pacifier could work the same way for older babies too!
@Bee they always suggest to give calpol afterwards not before the jabs x
@Lizzie thank you x
Emla cream!!! Get the pack with the patches if you can, you apply the numbing cream for about 1hour before and then take it off when you get to the doctors. Made such a difference to ours, we used them every time after the 1st ones were awful 😖
They are horrible but honestly lovely it’s over so quickly, you almost won’t need to distract baba. I went with my sister just so I wasn’t on my own because his cries were so sad, he cuddled me after and soon settled down. My sister took him for me after as I was a bit shaky 🙈 but within 5 minutes all was forgotten and he was babbling away on the way home🥰 Just had a temp for a couple of days after and was a bit clingy xx
@Paris thank you. I’ve never even heard of this before but will get them! Dreading it but know they need them!
@Kirsty thank you. I think I’m working it up in my head because he is just so aware of things now and it will break my heart but I know it will be over and done with within few mins so just hoping it isn’t as bad as I imagine in my head! X
Oh bless you. Yeah, I will be honest with you that the cry is so sad, but you’ll be right there with him when he needs you. It’s two quick jabs one side, two quick jabs the next and I promise you it doesn’t take long at all! Then just lots of cuddles🥰
@Bee is it 4 injections in 1 sitting?
@Rebecca Sorry jumping on the reply there. Yes it’s two in one leg, then you swap bubs round and they have two in the other leg x

@Rebecca yes 2 in each leg x
My little boy just had his jabs this morning. He was so upset during but then was fine within a minute or two once we were out of the room and he’d had a cuddle. He’s been completely fine since too, happy as anything. I did buy a bar of chocolate for myself on the way home though to make myself feel better for putting him through that 😂
Same here I'm so nervous
