Just 3 weeks (so she's done 3 full days so far, and her 2 settling in days) I'm wondering if I should up her hours to help her settle in. I only work one day a week and love my 4 days with her but I think more nursery hours might be the only way 😔
My girl was the same - it was heart wrenching! Absolutely inconsolable as soon as we got to thr door and cried lots of the day but NOW, she literally puts her arms out for her key worker and beams when she sees her! Doesn't cry at all, eats all her food and sleeps better than at home 😂 so happy to see me at pick up but not bursting into tears anymore! I'm a teacher so she's been there for about 9 weeks now, 2 days a week - from about 8 until 4pm. I'd say maybe 5-6 weeks in, things really changed. She absolutely loves her key worker so that helps! Before this she only settled for me and had hardly ever napped without being bf - i was so nervous sending her but honestly it's been the best thing!
@Sian thank you for your reply! Aw was she, bless her. That's so reassuring to hear that your LG improved over the weeks. That gives me hope for my girl 🙏 I probably just need to give it time, and try and relax. I rang the nursery today and I've upped her to 2 days a week also instead of just 1 in the hope it'll help. I can't wait for the day she goes in with a smile on her face! X
My LO likes to be dramatic and cried at drop off for a long time (maybe 6 weeks ish) even after he started to really enjoy being and playing at nursery.
How long has she been going to nursery? The staff at ours said that kids doing several full days settle in the quickest. Apparently, half days are challenging but I assume so could be a single day
