Not pooping

My baby hasn’t had stool for at least 5 days now. She’s only had small poops from tooting, but not a regular bowel movement. Has any one else experienced this and is it normal? She’s been exploring solids for a couple months now.

How old is she? Is she breastfeeding? Some babies who breastfeed don’t poop for up to 7 days .. you can give her some blueberries to help or prunes

So my nine month old has been doing solids for over two months and she’s been constipated the entire time. We’ve done periods of removing solids and just doing breastmilk, which kind of helped but then she got constipated again right after she started solids again. I took her to the pediatrician yesterday and he said that we just really needed to try to get more fluids in her. So we’re mixing juice and water Because she doesn’t want to drink just water. If that doesn’t work, he said to do a teaspoon of MiraLAX twice a day and if that doesn’t work 2 teaspoons twice a day, I’ve been giving her prunes and pears and avoiding starchy foods, but nothing really changed. Anything she’s going on day four of not pooping, and I’m thinking of doing suppository

Call her doctor !! Try prune juice also start giving her probiotics and vitamin d drops that’s what my dr recommended but 5 days is a lot! u need to make sure her doctor is aware

My baby is 8 months and has been having the issue with constipation too. I was doing prune purée every day but nothing was helping. My pediatrician suggested 2 oz of apple juice first and then a glycerin suppository if that doesn’t help but I ended up trying the Q tip trick that I read about, just apply some Vaseline to a q tip and insert it a little into baby’s rectum and swirled it around a little then I put him down for a nap and a couple hours later he had a bunch of poop come out.

This is okay. Whenever I started to give my baby solids at 5 months, this happened often and still does. If you breastfeed, something that I do is drink fennel tea everyday- it helps with flatulence and helps my baby go. You can also try to feed pumpkin or prunes! pumpkin really helps

@Kyla she is 9 months and yes she is exclusively breastfed. Thank you!

@Meghan wow glad to know my baby isn’t the only one! I might have to decrease her solids intake if it continues. Thank you!

@Lana yes I have been giving her prune puree the past couple days. And yes her pediatrician is aware, they said to call back tomorrow if she hasn’t had a bowel movement.

@Kristina I’ve tried the prune puree as well and so far, not much has changed. My MIL also told me to try warm water in her rectum.

@Isleta Thank you! I’ll look into the fennel tea and pumpkin, that’s good to know!

You can try boiling water with carom seeds and giving her 3-4 tablespoons of that water. My baby always poop after few hours of drinking that.

I gave Pumpkin and went for a 40 min ride in a car; she pooped a lot…. So every time she doesn't poop for more than 2 days, we go for a long ride, and every time she poops. you should tried it

@Kristina 😂😂😂 love this

my baby didn’t poo from sunday to saturday. i realized she was getting too many binding foods. i stopped all solids other than prune ans pear purees and made sure she was super hydrated. finally, she took like 5 poops between saturday night and sunday lol now she’s back on track. it’s pretty normal for them to get a little wacky once they’re on solids.

Apple sauce or apple juice helps my baby when she gets backed up! I’ve had a pediatrician say day 8-9 is when you should go in
