Has anyone else’s toddler reverted back to using their hands more than cutlery for feeding?

I’ve noticed over the last few months that she’s started to use her hands more again, especially for things like rice or pasta.

Yes we have - but to be honest culturally we eat with our hands a lot too, so we’re trying to balance what we practice culturally but also encouraging use of utensils. Sorry I don’t know if this helps you or not.

@Anisa no it’s good insight! I just wondered if it was common was all. Her Nigerian side eats with their hands commonly too, so it’s just about how to encourage it in the right moments 🥰

Yes mine has started doing it with rice and also yogurt 🙃🙃

Yes! Was much better using cutlery before

Yes she has! Drives me mad. I just had to look at her and she gives me a cheeky grin and picks ip her cutlery! lol x

@Ru yoghurt?! Crying tears for you!

@Cara same here, really don’t know what’s happened. I reckon they’re just over it and remember their hands are easier?

@Lauren honestly! We have to keep reminder her that the fork/spoon isn’t there for emotional support and is to be used 😂 at least your little girl knows!

My LO uses them interchangeably. When he gets frustrated with a spoon/ fork, he uses hands. Sometimes he uses hands because he feels like it that day 😅

Yes, I just leave him to it as long as he eats his meal 😂

Occasionally. She’s not eating well at the minute though so I don’t mind as long as food is getting into her mouth 😂

Okay, thanks all! Good to know it’s not a odd thing 😂
