Starting Solids

Our Doctor has invited us to slowly start introducing solids. Has anyone else started? Is it too soon? He can sit for brief periods of time unassisted but we are still working on balance.

My doctor gave us the okay this week. My son absolutely loves it. He leans towards the spoon and opens his mouth as soon as he sees it coming. We have the fisher price sit me up and it helps him keep his balance

@Victoria did your son start showing signs of interest in your food before hand? Just wondering not judging you for starting. I'm debating starting or waiting till she starts staring down our spoons 😂.

@Jessie for me, it was what can I do for him bc this child never seemed full. He just kept wanting to eat more formula and would scream his head off so I asked what can we do at his 4 month check up. The pediatrician said he seemed ready and to start slow with one food a week.

@Victoria ahhhh, feeding is weird with my lo. We see the doc in 6 days so we will see what they say. She can deff sit pretty well and I know that's a tell also.

We started yesterday, baby boy is July 9th and just got over a double ear infection. He wasn’t eating a lot and now that he’s eating normally he got constipated. I started prune puree last night and he loved it. He also pooped this morning and seems very happy today. We gave him the prunes again today and he really enjoyed them. He had 1 teaspoon.

Update!!! Baby boy had prunes again this morning with a big smile AND he is no longer constipated! Very happy update!

Sounds like you can start when you want. We started around 5monwith our first. We used a mesh feeder and it was great. I honestly can't praise them enough. I think that is responsible for his great chewing skills that he has now at 2.5. It was also a less scary way to start, because no choke risk, and it only gets a little to their stomach so the digestive system can develop more slowly.
