We did our boys first bath arouns 2 and half weeks. Before that we would just top and tail him cleaning in the main areas like face, hands, neck, behind ears and genitals. Babies don't really need a full bath until later and even then only need 2-3 baths a week. If you are in the UK I would suggest using child's farm products as they are great for newborns. They have unscented and scented products that can be used from birth 😊
we gave our baby his first bath during the week we brought him home. we didnt shampoo his hair til he turned 1 month old, but we did use baby soap on him.
After his cord fell and healed but with really little soap and before that I sponge bath him with clear water and cotton ....whatever product you use, I would advise to patch test first
I was told they can’t have their first bath until after the cord has fallen off and healed.
My daughter was 2 days old as we waited until we were home but she was washed up the day after she was born as she had a lot of hair and it was full of blood. We bathed her every night since, as it was part of her routine and we noticed significant improvement with her overnight sleep (we didn’t use soap every time though). The WHO recommends waiting 24hrs or 6hrs if 24hrs is not possible. Do what you are comfortable with!
waited a few weeks and she has absolutely beautiful skin at 9months
We did it after about 10 days but still didn’t introduce and soap/shampoo until 6 weeks and still only use it really sparingly x
After the cord fell off
We did it after about 15 days. Sponge bath until then.
I typically wanted their hair washed in the hospital and they got sponge baths until their cord stump fell off and was healed up. Then they got a full submerged bath
6 days old when she got home from the hospital, she has had one every night since as part of her bedtime routine x
The nurse bathed my son the first day and 2 days later when we went bac k home, we give him a bath every night.
I waited 1 week
Your not meant to bath them untill their cord bit falls off and looks ok. But the longer you wait and don’t over bath unen it’s better for their skin and you don’t end up drying it out
Hello, I allowed the nurses to give my son a bath the same day he was born to clean blood from his hair. When we went home we gave him a bath three days after and then every third day he’d have a bath with very light amount of soap. No question is silly. Hope this helps.
