Night wakings since dropping bottle

My LG has been pretty good at sleeping through the night, but now we've dropped her formula and she's only having 4oz in her bottle just before bed, she's waking up a lot in the night. Last night we had to give her milk twice after an hour's battle each time because she was screaming the house down. We didn't give formula just regular cows milk. She's not the biggest eater in the world, so I'm wondering if she's hungry. Has anyone else gone through this and got any advice?

Ever since we’ve transitioned to cows milk my LO has started waking in the night for milk again which he hasn’t done for months! Hoping with time he’ll start sleeping through again🤞🏻 we’ve even tried doing a bigger bottle before bed but hasn’t worked as of yet

@Chelsey This is what we've been finding! I'm really hoping it settles soon, it's so tiring!

Definitely sounds like she's waking because of hunger. I'd be tempted to increase the bedtime bottle and try decreasing again in a few weeks time.

@Kate I was thinking this, I might put a higher formula ratio in and see how she gets on

Formula is far more filling than cows milk so it sounds like she’s genuinely hungry. I’d keep encouraging food during the day, I’ve found having it available in a low pressure way such as next to baby while he plays encourages him to graze/ eat more. I’d also maybe try giving more milk before bed and seeing how she gets on x

@Yasmin That's a good idea, maybe I should leave some snacks around for her to try. She might not be hungry at the times we're trying to feed her, but maybe in her own time she might be more inclined to eat

On days where we feel my my boy hasn’t had a lot of food during the day we offer ‘supper’ before bed which is usually a weetabix. Just to make sure he’s not going to bed hungry or going to wake up hungry x

I'd suggest giving her more before bed as it appears she's hungry. My daughter has 1x 8oz bottle of cows milk at bedtime. All her other bottles have been dropped now and replaced with 3 meals and 2 snacks because she eats well. I can't remember the last time she had a night feed, probably around 3 months.

@Helen Last night I did 5oz formula with 4oz cows milk in the end. I had been doing 3oz formula and 6oz cows milk, but she must still need a bit more at the minute. I'm hoping I can fully wean her off soon!

@Kathryn I read that you were only giving her 4oz in total. In that case I'd try increase her food during the day, little and often is sometimes better than 3 big meals. I offer 2 snacks with a small cup of milk in between meals.

@Helen Yeah I try and do 3 meals plus snacks, but she never eats much, so I wonder if I need to break it down even more for her to try and get her to eat more
