Hi! We’re a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 under 2s) and we spent £200 every other week, equating to around £400/450 a month. We don’t drink alcohol or smoke. We buy a mix of brands and own brand. We do 2 ‘big shops’ and freeze meats etc. We find it much more cost effective than buying smaller shops more often 🙂

I spend between £80 and £100 a week depending on where we shop that’s for 3 us and formula for our newborn

we spend around £160 a week on average for 2 adults, 2ch (under 2)

About £100 a week, we are 2 adults, 1 x 4yo and 2 x 2mo

70 for 1.5 people (me and my LB). Some weeks it’s less or more depending if I buy in bulk etc

£100 a week (2 adults and a toddler) We work full time so not at home and son in nursery and we eat out probably twice a week. We never waste food but our freezer is full as I over cook!!!

About £120 a week for 2 adults and 3 children (1 child only every other week).

I HAVE to budget £100 for two weeks, I’ve no choice but that’s me, my nearly 10 year old and nearly 2 year old.

£95 a week 2 adults, 1 toddler and two big kids (teens) every other weekend and odd week nights, this is a stretch though and I shop at different shops to get cheapest

@Grace do you have any tips on how you do this please & where to shop? Ours is coming to around £80-£100 per week, which from looking at these comments is quite common, but we really need to try and reduce this

I do need to top up with milk and bread in between, but I usually buy things like mince and then cook a big batch, for example bolognese/cottage pie/chilli then have left overs so it’ll do us two meals and maybe a lunch. Or I’ll freeze the left overs but it’ll still be there for another meal. I try to aim to make my meals so that there will be left overs and they will do more than one meal. This time of year helps with that and I find it easier to do. Soups too! And they’re healthy. I rarely use sauces from a jar and keep a stock of herbs and spices so then I just keep chopped tomatoes, tomato puree topped up and then maybe coconut milk for curries etc. I tend to buy the own brand/cheapest option of tomato puree, pasta etc it’s no different to the more expensive ones. But I don’t go without brands, some things are better when they’re more expensive. I also shop around but I do my main food shop with tesco…

£500 a month for 2 adults, 1 toddler and a cat, from Asda. We're not particularly frugal for food and Dad is a fussy eater so eats separate meals which pushes the cost up.

I was made redundant when I was pregnant in 2022, and my youngest dad was abusive and has no place in our lives. So I’ve really had to learn how to survive with extremely little money and little support. So it’s not out of choice but I can’t really go over that on my shops or else I’m really really stuffed for the rest of the month! I don’t have a bit surplus of money after bills and food. Also if I’ve got bread things and they’ve not been used up I generally just freeze them as it’ll keep then use as needed xx

Oh and if I do a roast chicken then I know that’ll do lunches and meals as well, or a gammon on a Sunday that’ll do loads of meals! When it’s slow cooked it shreds up beautifully and goes far. But we don’t always have the same thing, I might use the chilli on jacket potatoes, or turn the bolognese into chilli etc etc. I’ll also try to use up as much as possible in the fridge etc as I hate waste ! And you’ll be surprised at how delicious meals are when you just make up something on the spot 😂

You may find this useful an App called Too Good To Go we use it every once in awhile between food shops and have been able to get loads of fresh fruits and vegetables from Aldi via it for like £3.30 you get a whole pallet full. Morrisons, Asda and a few other supermarkets are also on there depending on your location. https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-gb/b2b/for-local-businesses?utm_medium=search&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=uk_b2b_paid_marketing_search_google_brand-exact_testv2&utm_content=168778270263&utm_term=too+good+to+go+app&cq_plac=&cq_net=g&cq_pos=&cq_med=&cq_plt=gp&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAouG5BhDBARIsAOc08RRmFe70xbuQtrh26TJZFpMfW2rZFJx2eJyyESyyD2eCofU3uHTQ1mkaAsdGEALw_wcB
