Advice on finding a kitten a home

I found a kitten in a parking lot a month ago and immediately started contacting rescues in my area but they either ghosted me or said they wouldn’t take him if I didn’t give them hundreds of dollars. There is a pretty big no-kill shelter near me that will only take him if I give them a lot of money as well. I asked everyone I know and asked them to ask anyone they know if someone will give him a forever home. I even called a couple of vets for advice but they were more annoyed than anything. My last ditch effort was to go on nextdoor but that was a total bust. I’m kinda scared of taking him to the regular shelter for obvious reasons, but I might be worried for no good reason. And I totally get why some places are asking for all that money and vet bills, but I’m just the sucker that plucked him off the supermarket pavement. I’m not some kitten abandoning brokie that wants to leave a cat in a box. I just don’t know what else to do that would still ensure he lives a long happy life with a forever family that isn’t going to cost me a month’s worth of groceries. Any advice at all would be appreciated.

Have you tried any towns nearby? You'd maybe have to pay for the gas to get him to a shelter elsewhere but it might work and would be less than what local shelters are asking for. PetSmart might also be an option if you have one nearby.

Can you try animal control? I’d hope they’d have solid advice for a Good Samaritan such as yourself. And I’m assuming keeping the little buddy isn’t an option? Bc the cat distribution system may have just been in play 🤪❤️

@Tiffany also my thoughts on the cat distribution system. 😂

@Kayla sometimes it’s just meant to be haha

@Tiffany No lol. My cats hate him and my toddler is scary. He’s such a nice cat that he keeps going back to get bullied by the 3 of them. He deserves peace so we can’t keep him

I completely understand and applaud you for doing what you can in the interim ❤️

What area are you in? I may be on the internet but I maybe able to help I used to foster and rescue kitties
