At my work i was in contact with slapped cheek so I was seen weekly at the royal for 14/15 weeks and then it changed to my local hospital every 3 weeks as everything was good….just feeling very unprepared as consultant just does a scan and that’s the appointment done
To be fair midwife appointments are usually as uninformative and they only use the heartbeat monitor so scan more reliable for keeping track of baby. I swapped to consultant due to baby size. All birth planning is basically pointless as 90% of time it doesn’t go to plan and nurses half time don’t read birthing plans. Aim to go with the flow and as long as baby born healthy and your healthy is doesn’t matter how they get here. I didn’t even do the anti natal cases I joined one online for 10mins and never joined again as I found it basic
@Glynis thank you, I appreciate that
I've been consultant led from the very start due to reoccurring loses. I only see the midwife for blood pressure and urine check before I see the consultant. At 25 weeks I had one midwife app for my mat b form. I haven't spoke to anyone about my birth or options either.
Does no harm to ring and make an appointment with them - i did that late in my pregnancy as i was a FTM too and had questions about birth / pain relief etc. they booked me in no problem x
I didn’t see a midwife at all for my second pregnancy after 20 weeks as I was consultant lead. I would first ask your consultant why you are being consultant lead as if there is any things you have to consider before choosing a birth option. With my second I was adamant I was having a planned c-section unless I went into labour before my due date. I had a previous emergency c-section.
