what can I give my 5 month old preemie for constipation?could the similac neosure be causing it? or the extra iron shes taking? it's her first time being constipated.

maybe a stool softener. my preemie had that problem too and his dr said it can be from the extra calories from the formula. he’s been pooping fine since!
The similar neosure is definitely causing it cause it was doing it for my little man. I started giving him Enfamil gentlease and now we don’t have that problem at all

@Erin that's what i was thinking i honestly didn't think it wouldn't be a problem anymore since it's been working fine until now. I will have to talk to her pediatrician about it when I go for her 6 months appointment in 2 weeks
I did prune juice and water or just add the prune juice to bottles when feeding. Just a cap full!
@Shaniqua would it be the cap of the juice that you filled or would it be around 1 oz?

My baby is on iron too. She's 4 months actual and 1 month adjusted. My pediatrician recommended an ounce of prune juice seperatw from her bottle and do not dilute it. It did the trick for us! She said once a day as needed.

Prune and apple juice worked wonders for my son when he was that age !! Be prepared tho sometimes it all comes out at once 🤣 my son was also premature
@Cassie how did you make your baby drink it without it tasting bad for them? I feel like if I give it to her without mixing it in milk she won't drink it lol
