Breathing treatments, humidifier, you can run a hot shower and sit in the bathroom with your baby, and suction out their boogers regularly! Mostly you’ll just have to let the virus run its course but if your child is struggling to breathe and if their lips turn purple or if they’re lethargic then you need to take a trip to the emergency room. My 6 month old just got diagnosed with rsv 5 days ago and it’s been hard but it does get better
Sara I don't like your aditte
@Sara I don’t really agree with your pediatrician saying there aren’t any safe decongestants for infants, my daughter pediatrician prescribed her Triptolidine which is a safe decongestant for infants
@Katonna hammack I don’t see anything wrong with what she said, she gave you decent advice however there are certain decongestants that your pediatrician can prescribe your baby. It’s different for every doctor tho I would just advise that you communicate with your daughters doctor specifically
I have already done that
@Katonna hammack okay that’s really all you can do then, the virus just has to run its course unfortunately. Just make sure you’re suctioning her boogers frequently and using saline drops. Also avoid cigarettes smoke as it can make her breathing worse
@Katonna hammack thats absolutely okay to not like my attitude. I prefer to believe what my pediatrician tells me over whatever someone on the internet does. As well intended as many people can be ( @Skylar please do not take offense to this, you seem cool), their suggestions shouldn’t be substituted for medical advice. It’s always best to consult your healthcare provider before pursuing any type of home remedy or treatment. I really do hope your daughter gets better soon.
@Sara I agree with you, I’m not a medical professional but I have been given professional advice from someone who is, but yes you should always consult with your specific doctor, many of them have different opinions.
Your pediatrician. Unless there are health professionals on here (who should know that it’s not okay to provide medical guidance over the internet for strangers), your child’s doctor has approved methods that should be taken into account when trying to alleviate your infant’s symptoms. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I hope your child gets better soon.
