Juice is fine, but you have to dilute it with water because of the sugar

They can have natural juices like apple juice, but dilute it with water. Like 3 oz water 1 oz juice.

Juice isn't recommended until age 2 per the AAP. There's no need for it unless to assist in alleviating constipation https://www.healthychildren.org/English/healthy-living/nutrition/Pages/recommended-drinks-for-young-children-ages-0-5.aspx?_gl=1*2ejpr2*_ga*MTk3NzI2MDY3LjE3MzIxMjgzOTk.*_ga_FD9D3XZVQQ*MTczMjEyODM5OS4xLjEuMTczMjEyODQwNC4wLjAuMA..

Can you? Yes. Should you? Health wise, no. But at the end of the day, it's your baby and up to you. Even natural juices are mostly sugar (even if there are no added sugars). Feeding the whole fruit is ideal, as they get the same flavor variety, as well as the whole nutritional value of the fruit, fiber, and learn the different textures and how to maneuver them within their mouths.

And yes, he can get cavities. Even without adding juice. We brush teeth morning and night (no toothpaste, as the action itself is what cleans teeth). We won't do anything other than breastmilk/formula (whatever you choose) until at least a year, longer if possible, and small amounts of water (like maybe an ounce) with meals from 6mos and up. We don't even do juice in general in our house, as it truly isn't good for you at all. An 8oz glass of juicy juice 100% pure apple juice has 27 grams of sugar. An 8oz glass of Coca-Cola has 26 grams. I wouldn't give him a soda, either. Yes, juice has some vitamins and such, but the whole fruit is much better overall.

@Ashley well that's why I made the post the know if it was ok different not doing juice 🙃

I may have accidentally made juice but it seemed to help my son’s congestion I tried making mango puree yesterday with frozen mango and added a touch of water cuz of the dryness in the food processor and he ate a little bit yesterday but it like made more of a liquid today and I decided to put in a bottle and see what he did and he was drinking it well and his cough was doing better than it had been so like hey vitamins 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Grace not juice! Just a puree. Juice doesn't have any of the fruit fibers, and is just the liquid.

As long as it's watered down it's nbd

Even if it’s watered down you do have to worry about the amount of liquid they’re drinking if they’re still consuming mostly milk as it’s mostly water. Smoothies are great and I use a splash of water and I don’t give my baby a lot. She drinks only breast milk most days. “Food just for fun until one” is what pediatricians recommend now.

You can also put chopped up fruit in their water for a subtle flavoring instead of watering down juice.

Our doctor has recommended 1 part prune, 1 part apple, 2 parts water for constipation. Up to 2 oz per day ❤️
