Date of return to work- UK

My little girl was born on 31st May and I went off work on 13th May. I was wanting to return to work on the first day of the May holidays- something like 26th May and just do kit days here and there before then. Is that possible as it’s more than a year?

Hmmm I take it your doing SPL over your holidays? Because these don’t count as ‘weeks’ toward your maternity leave. You’re ’returning to work’ over these weeks. So this might mean you could get to a slightly later date than when you went off. Don’t quote me though. But that’s my thinking. And on my SPL plan spread sheet those holidays/SPL leave don’t accrue weeks.

I hadn’t done SPL no but I’ve looked into it for the Feb holidays and Easter holidays

I don’t think you’re able to do more than a year and that includes holidays. My understanding is that you’d have to return on or by 13th May.

@Carla you 100% need to do it… I got 5 weeks of full extra pay.

@Carla I’m not sure if you’re too late but I went on leave mid June and I was able to take SPL over Christmas (as well as Feb half term and I’m ‘returning to work for Easter’). You would be able to. But you might be too late to submit. I’d look into this asap. Look at the company teacher SPL. I think it’s around £50 but they do all the forms for you.

I second what @Cassandra says too! So worth it!

@Cassandra can I ask who you used to help you? I am planning to do the same (not until May). X

So helpful thank you ladies for sharing. I should have got the lady to do it for me. Feel like it’s too late now but I’ve done the forms myself and sent them off for Christmas, Feb half term and Easter holidays. Fingers crossed
