I had an Arabin pessary put in due to my cervix being to short and went full term x
Currently 27 weeks after having the stitch put in at 19+5 weeks. After having a stillborn at 23+4 weeks I was willing to try anything. The procedure was very smooth and the consultant explained everything beforehand. She said many women are worried about PROM, but it’s very rare and is more likely to occur if you have the stitch put in later on. I’d do it all again! Definitely seemed a lot scarier in my head. Hoping to make it to 36 weeks where they will remove the stitch, but I’m just happy I’ve got this far with it in and the baby has more chance than at 23 weeks.
Hi! I've had it twice! I'm currently 30 weeks with my second, and this time, even though my cervix was measuring fine, it was put as a precaution because I had it with my first. And after a few weeks of the surgery, it shortened a bit, so I just wondered what would have happened if I didn't have it placed. I'm also on progesterone. And I will have it done if I have more babies.
I had a previous lleetz as well. My cervix was close to 40mm in the beginning of my pregnancy (around week 15-16) then it went down to 20mm (no funneling) and I had a stitch at that time (around 23 weeks). I am currently 39 weeks pregnant. My stitch was removed on week 37. I used 400mg progesterone between week 20 and 35. I was very scared but the procedures for getting and removing the stitch went smoothly.
I would say go for it. I had mine done at 23 weeks with a cervical length of 14mm and the doctor’s told me there was a high risk of PROM because of how short my cervix was. They told me I could wait it out and continue with just the progesterone as i was only one week away from viability but I chose the cerclage. They said it could still fail even if successfully placed but i felt that was the best choice. My first was a preemie and i felt the cerclage was the best chance i had at having a term baby. Thankfully everything worked out and the cerclage allowed me to hold my baby in until 38 weeks and 3 days which is a win considering my first was born at 27 weeks.
I had a stitch put in at 16 weeks with a length of 17mm, checked every 4 weeks after that and now I’m at 29mm Procedure went well and I went home the same day with no pain killers required. Relaxed as much as possible after with a week off work and now just take it easy and avoid any heavy lifting and anything strenuous but can’t even tell it’s in now. After a previous loss at 23 weeks I decided I wanted to try everything to help. Currently made it to 26 weeks and all looking good so hoping to make it as far as possible.
