@Arosa 🇵🇸 ive been told because I used to smoke by others I would need to do some scans? I also have anaemia is this something that would fall under that?
I have anaemia too, unfortunately that isn’t one of the reasons for growth scans! But if you’ve been told you need extra get in touch with your midwife because I’m sure they can refer you for them at the hospital x
U need just call the midwife and ask her or ask her at ur next appointment
Unless you’re classed as high risk for whatever reason or you’ve measured off with fundal height then you won’t automatically get growth scans. If they’ve not mentioned these to you then you won’t be getting them. Anaemia isn’t classed as high risk so wouldn’t cause you to get growth scans. As far as I know previously smoking doesn’t come under it either as I used to smoke and never got offered these with my daughter. I’m high risk this time so will be getting some starting next week then every 2 weeks x
Amazing thank you all so much!! it reassured me that all seems well with baby now that it’s not needed or having mentioned that because leading up to it and having Clexane injections made me worry that ive not got a clue what’s going on! Is there a way for me to find out the height and growth of baby in third tri to know if development is ok or if baby is on smaller/larger side?
If you’re not getting any growth scans by nhs then the only other way would be to book in for a private scan. With my daughter we had a scan around 32 weeks as I felt like from 20 weeks not scanning was a long time to then meet baby. Just for extra reassurance everything was ok too x
You don’t have growth scans unless your midwife has concerns about how you’re measuring, or you have gestational diabetes or there are other concerns. Usually after 5 months there are no growth scans on the NHS if everything is well? X
