I need to know that I'm not the only one

My son (3 weeks 1 day) is really struggling with trapped gas even though I use Infacol before every feed and attempt to burp him afterwards (not always successful). He also experiences random sessions of hiccups and he has always had this when I was carrying him. He farts a lot but when he can't shift the gas, he is in so much pain. I feel so helpless and like rubbish mum, and I don't know what to do.

Hey lovely, does the link work above for burping techniques? Can you have his latch checked for tongue/lip tie? Has he got a good seal around the bottle/breast when feeding? (Duck lips) xx

My girl was like this (still is to an extent but it’s better now she’s more active) we had to do lots of belly rubs, warm baths, bicycle legs, bringing knees up to chest etc. I did find dentinox (can get it from asda) worked better than infacol. I also used colief on top of the infacol as they do different things and that seemed to help

None of the colic relief drops helped mine but Biogaia probiotics really really helped. Also we found baby wearing after feeds helps as well she would let out a huge burp randomly after we wear her

Babies are pretty gassy beans! Hang in there, it'll improve. You can do lots of massage and moving of their legs to help, plus tummy time (chest or floor) will help but it's just a game of doing what you can. Their digestive systems are going through some pretty big developments. It's worth adding that infacol essentially works by gathering the gas bubbles together so in cases this can make it more uncomfortable (think windy IBS if you've ever had it). I found the "I love you" massage, knees to tummy, and windy legs (twisting hips side to side and bicycle legs) really helped and also movement with position changes. I was worried about latch as EBF but it pretty much all stopped by the time he turned 3mo! He's still windy but bothers him less (and nothing I can do because he's just a guzzler). 🤣 This is a good reference: https://www.wikihow.com/Soothe-a-Gassy-Baby Hope this helps!

For I love you start on the right hand side so the massage is always clockwise. ☺️

Have you tried gripe water? My girl was terrible even being breastfed and we found this helped if we alternated between that and infacol

I swear by gripe water, infacol didn’t work for my daughter either but gripe water certainly did, I even took it myself after my c section as it causes awful trapped wind that doubles you up and it helped me too🤣 x

Ive been using gripe water for my baby girl. And its worked like a charm to help relieve that gas and upset tummy its also helped her have bowel movements too!

@Rachel yes the link worked and since watching the video, I've been using the technique and it has been more successful at bring up the wind than others so I will continue with that and see how we get on. He seemed to have a good seal around the breast/bottle Thank you for your advice ❤️

@Natalie I had a horrendous time with my little boy. He was so colicky. I tried all the things the ladies above recommended but I think in hindsight he had undiagnosed tongue tie. My latch was poor too, I know this because I had the worst nipple trauma 😞 it did get better as he got older but I wish I knew what I know now. I hope you’re ok, sending love! You’re not alone 💕💕 xx
