Lifestyle while breastfeeding

This may be a long one! I need help with losing weight whilst breastfeeding. I’m 4 months pp with my third baby and I have always retained weight during breastfeeding. By 9 weeks pp I had naturally lost 1 stone and stayed around there for a couple weeks, since then I have actively worked off another stone (I am now 10 stone for reference). I have had the same routine consisting of 45 minutes of medium/high intensity cardio 4 days a week and strength training/light cardio to start and finish my session 2 days a week. I have a very healthy diet most of the time with the odd treat here and there and I drink water constantly throughout the day. However, this weight will not shift (I have been stuck at 10 stone for a month) and my goal is to lose another stone by the end of February but it doesn’t seem like it’s happening. Any and all advice and personal stories are welcome!

Hi Charlotte, PT and mum here. Well done for your journey. Your dedication to a healthy and fit lifestyle is something to admire. Although, your weight sounds perfectly fine, I understand it isn't what you wanted to achieve. As you do strength training and cardio with a healthy diet, your body composition is changing. 9 stone and 10 stone can look the same when you put on muscles as muscles weighs more. Do you feel like you need to lose an other 1 stone of fat? As you are breastfeeding and your weight is already low I am concerned to encourage too much weight loss tips but let's see some reasons you hit a platou 1. Your body struggles to lose more because you are undereating and breastfeeding hence metabolism slowed down -> you can add extra protein, a bit more healthy fat and some more carbs 2. Change of routine in exercise. Try 2 x shorter HIIT sessions and 2 x full body strength training and add daily walks or swimming as active recovery. And ofc pelvic floor exercises and post partum safe exercises

3. Add electrolytes to your water so you stay hydrated more and won't retain water (adding water weight) 4. Do you do any relaxation techniques? Extra stress hormone (cortisol) won't let you lose weight as some fat is protecting you in a stressful situation (fight or flight) Can you sleep well? 5. Are you taking post pregnancy vitamins?
