Toothbrushing - toothpaste

The toothpaste I got even though stayed for ages 0-2 on the box says to get them to spit it out. We all know that’s not exactly as easy as that at our babies age. Can anyone recommend a toothpaste they use, and the method they’re using Thanks

I use that toothpaste and I only put a small amount on the brush. They don’t spit it out.

My dentist says for the amount being used it really doesn’t matter that it’s swallowed. Even my 3yo finds the spitting tricky sometimes 😂

@Chloe same here, I think they just have to say that on the box legally in case someone uses loads and their baby chokes but a tiny amount is fine

Thanks ladies. When we say small amount how much in comparison to like a pea size?

I literally use a tiny smear, like I’ll squeeze it just to the top of the tube and quickly drag or dab the toothbrush. My 3yo has a pea size blob.

Sorry to jump on this but is anyone successfully brushing their baby's teeth? Mine has 8 teeth now and it's an absolute battle, he sees the brush and zips his mouth tight shut 😒 any tips? X

@Bonnie yes I have had no issues with both children and they love getting their teeth brushed. My 3 year old even mentions it if you don’t do it right away.

@Lesley any tips how you did it? Should I have let him play with it first instead of just trying to brush them straight away .. he's only 9 months but I want to brush them properly

I’ve always had them lying down and put my finger in to open their mouth if they are being awkward. Only happens at the start of brushing their teeth now they both happily open their mouth. Then I celebrate after each brush. Going proper OTT to show how happy I am 🤣 Then they want to brush their teeth constantly

OK I will give this a go! Thanks 😅
