Food addiction holding me back

Hi guys, wandering if anyone can relate. I lost 20kg since starting my WLJ in feb. I now love exercise and I eat healthy & whole foods. Despite not eating junk/ultra processed foods, I still overeat. By that I mean I continue to eat past the point I’m full and out of boredom. I know this is one of the main things slowing my progress. I’ve struggled with overeating from young and I haven’t figured out how to solve it. Recently I’ve been thinking what else can I do to make me ‘happy’ or stress relieved other than eat. I can’t think of anything!

Bit of a random one, but have you ever tried 'tapping' it's an EFT technique. I remember doing this to stop me eating chocolate a few years ago and after I literally couldn't look at chocolate for about 6 weeks. I should probably do it again as I can't stop eating chocolate now 🤣🤣. There is loads of 'tapping' videos on you tube anyway and you can find one for overeating. Also drinking more water, before you eat and between meals might help you feel more full and less likely to eat. X

Thanks for this, it sounds interesting. Will look it up🥰

Look into ‘intuitive eating’ this is really helpful for this sort of thing.

Is your overeating related to childhood trauma? Could be really small or really big event/events that happened that made you find comfort in food, if so addressing it will help

Have you tried a twelve step fellowship like OA?

Your body may also need more minerals. Even the healthiest foods are lacking. Sea moss is an easy one but I usually go for shilajit and make it as a latteee Perhaps more warming herbal teas can be a comfort and filling in between But also eating slower when you do have meals Eat more presently Try to fill the belly 1/3 food 1/3 air and 1/3 liquid My husbands family really overeats and food is love for them and when he started his health journey, those were a few things that’s helped.

@Charlie I will, thank you🥰

@Karolina honestly a lot of the core memories from my childhood are a blur, it could be. I’ll take some time to think about it, thank you💕

@Stephanie just looked online and found somewhere they do meetings not far from me. Thanks for this.

@Marilyn thanks so much💕

You got this girlie!!

Mindful eating can help, pay attention to how the food tastes, smells and feels. Finding something that keeps your hands busy so you don't pick up food or stress releasing techniques. At meals fill half your plate with veg and portion control for protein and carbs. If you eat loads of veg you'll feel full and sated without overdoing it xx
