No idea what to do about screening test, how did you decide?

12 week scan is 12 December, do I have screening tests ? So unsure what to do and hear lots of different sides. I have been so anxious this pregnancy and not sure if not doing the test would ease anxiety or cause more. My bmi is very high to so will I be more high risk Thank you 9 weeks tomorrow

I think it’s personal preference I decided that I would rather know and be able to make an informed decision - I’m also a very anxious person and I am worried about the results but my mindset throughout this pregnancy with scans etc is that the test/scan doesn’t change anything, it just informs me what is happening I also have a high BMI and it’s massively stressing me out due to the higher risk of everything, now that I’m past 12 weeks I’m mainly stressing about stillbirth

I had a discussion with my midwife first, so I could understand what the tests were for. I chose to have them done. At the end of the day, the screening test gives you a risk factor. It's up to you what you choose to do with that information. I'm also high BMI and high risk.

Definitely personal preference and there’s no right or wrong answer. I have my 12 week scan on the 10th December and have decided to have them, just because if they come back as high risk I’d rather be mentally prepared. However, if they do come back as high risk - I won’t be opting for the internal testing as that carries a risk of miscarriage. My thought process is an internal test won’t change the outcome and I don’t want to take unnecessary risk when there might not be any abnormalities anyway. My first pregnancy came back as high risk for downs syndrome and spina bifida - yet my son was born with neither x
