Yes! I’m so excited to get our tree next Friday. My thoughts are just like anything you have to reinforce what’s safe and hold boundaries and although they will be older in another year or two so easier to explain, it would still be new and need to have a similar approach. We have a second on the way too so if we waited for my girl to be older, the younger won’t be.
Some tips I’ve seen though are:
-Get the tree and leave it undecorated for a few days to get them used to the tree.
-Decorate mainly the top half and keep things like lights and anything glass/breakable at the top.
-Use a decent stand, if worried about being pulled over which would take a bit of force, maybe try weighting down the stand even more
-Include them in decorating and watering/looking after so they don’t feel it’s something forbidden
-Use stair/fire gates around it or in a playpen
-Use empty boxes and wrap to create some obstacle
Another alternative I’ve seen are felt Christmas trees you hang on the wall
Ours has been up for 2 weeks already. She loves touching it and taking the baubles off 🤣🤣 we have put her play pen round it to stop her getting to it
