@Gabrielle my potty shot looks like a boy but told girl.. looks nothing like my daughters or any other girly potty shots so thinking I’ve been scanned wrong x
Spent my whole pregnancy buying girl stuff because the specialist told me that I was having a girl then the day my baby came he was clearly not a girl.😂😂😂
Had to return all the girl stuff and buy boy stuff😂😂😂
@Viola oh my! So you found out once he was born? Did they ever show you 3 lines for a girl etc? x
Yeah, I found out once he was born and no they just told me that he was a girl and even on my sono pictures it says “it’s a girl”
@Viola it happens more often than we think, we just don’t hear about it! The tech scanned me said baby gender not showing, then reckons it’s a girl but checks for all of 2 seconds. I’ve had people tell me it looks like a penis tucked in which it does! I’m confused. I have the manager ringing me on Monday but it depends if I’m taken seriously or not!! Was it a shock when he was born or did you ever feel it was wrong !?
I had a feeling that it was wrong, his balls were just big and when he was in my stomach he was always positioned with his legs together and it looked like it could be girl parts but I’ve always had a feeling but I just never thought to say anything because I went to a SPECIALIST, so I figured that they knew how to do their job. When he came out a boy I was kind of upset but after a few hours it didn’t matter because I was just happy to have a healthy happy baby💙💙💙
At first it felt wrong that I was upset but I just felt lied to and I had bought all this girl stuff… it was kind of depressing and it was fine for me to feel those emotions… I love my child more than anything in the world but I won’t ever go back to that specialist.😂😂😂
@Viola I honestly felt my scan was rushed that they couldn’t be bothered so they just came up with a girl! As they are meant to offer a rescan if they aren’t sure, it all happened to quick and weird!! it must of been a shock being prepared for a girl!! ❤️ but glad baby was happy and healthy. I’m not sure how I feel because I don’t believe it’s the correct gender !!
If you don’t think that your baby is the gender that they say your baby is I would just suggest a second opinion. Just so there is no surprises and or mixed feelings when baby is here.
@Viola I’m hoping once I’ve raised my concerns at the private scan place, they’ll rescan me and reassure me, I can’t afford ti pay out another one elsewhere 😢 so expensive here! And hopefully they’d take their time if they agree..
I hope they do!
It’s for this exact reason we got a blood test to confirm gender, as we were so worried about wrong results from scans!
Would you be able to share a picture of it. Sometimes the umbilical cord could be in the wrong spot and show one or the other or the vagina can get mistaken as a penis or vice versa would just ask again next time you go in for a scan

@Viola me too! thank you!
@Alexandra it’s so expensive in the UK (not sure where you are based) so we went for a scan instead!
@Gabrielle yeah of course, I’ll pop it in the comments. we felt so unwelcomed when we walked in, felt like we shouldn’t be there so at the time I didn’t say anything as I felt too awkward but after we got home, I rang up and they manager is ringing me tomorrow to discuss it. I wish I said something at the time but I just couldn’t bring myself too! 😭
@Gabrielle you should now see them if you refresh!
Do you know what the rest of what we are looking at is
I can’t even tell if that’s like a butt or not to even know if that’s the proper spot to even be looking lol
@Gabrielle nooo! They just said that baby was hiding their gender then they said to each other “are You happy with that” they literally looked for 2 seconds, they didn’t even discuss between them what they meant by happy with that, but claims it’s a girl! its not clear, they didn’t explain anything to us like they did with our first daughter! im angry at myself for not questioning it all 😢😢
Ugh I’m sorry. If that is the private area then yeah it looks like a girl but I wouldn’t get any hopes up until a second or third scan haha. I always asked what babies gender was to like always check
@Gabrielle at my 20 week hospital scan, the cord was in the way so they couldn’t tell us then, so we went to a private place 😂 I’m still hoping out that it’s a boy tbh with you but will have to see what comes of it!
For sure haha. Is this your first?
@Gabrielle it’s our second baby! We have a girl already hence why I think it isn’t a girl because it’s nothing like her potty shot of 3 bright lines etc!! If I could see it the same and they explained it the same, I wouldn’t doubt it! 🥹
Oh gotcha. Yeah we had a boy first and then a girl and it’s awesome. Hopefully you’ll be able to figure out soon haha. How far along are you
Do they have another appointment planned to try to get the gender
@Gabrielle so I’m 22 weeks tomorrow, I’m speaking to the manager of the private place tomorrow and hoping they’ll offer me a rescan. I’m in the UK, private places stop offering after 23 weeks, my last scan was at 20 weeks so no we don’t as it’s so expensive here 😢
Oh gotcha. Hopefully you can get another!

@Gabrielle fingers crossed, glad it ain’t just me who finds it unclear! 😂
Hey, OP - just to say private places will still scan you after 23W. I’m also in the UK. They scan you right up until the end and in my personal experience always offer gender confirmation with those reassurance scans. Especially somewhere like Window to the Womb. We had a 4D scan, for instance, when I was around 29W and they also confirmed gender then. That’s also where we got our blood test done, though yes it was pricey! I think it’s like £120 Check if your hospital offers reassurance scans. My hospital does (for a fee, but pretty cheap) and they can probably relook for gender there.
@Alexandra really? Window to the womb packages all stop at 23 weeks in my area.. I’ll have to query it if they don’t agree to rescan me, but it isn’t exactly cheap! - we always had a fab experience at WTTW with our first, but this time we didn’t. Would I contact the hospital or midwife for that? As far as I’m aware unless they have concerns, they won’t do a reassurance scan!
Many hospitals offer reassurance scans for a fee, normally they do them on certain evenings in the week. For example, mine does them every Tuesday from 5:30-7:30. You book and pay in advance (I think it’s like £80-£100). Check your hospital website to see if they offer it and they’ll normally have an email or phone number to book. You have no W2W packages after 23W?? How odd! Mine all go up to 42W. Though the gender ones specifically stop around 23W, the other scan packages (like 4D) which go until term include gender confirmation within them. When we booked our 4D scan they asked us if we wanted to know gender. But either way W2W should rescan you if they weren’t able to see the gender properly for whatever reason. Wishing you luck!
@Alexandra thank you, I just looked on my hospital website and they don’t offer it.. And no, not for genders, they offer 4D at 28 weeks but no mention of gender, hopefully they listen to me tomorrow but not Holding out to much hope. I did post my potty shots in the comments if you want to look x
anyone else?
Were you told it’s a boy or are you just wondering if it could be wrong
