How to tell grandma to back off without hurting anyone’s feeling

So context….. grandma lives with us and is hubbys mum. She is amazing with the baby and I am incredibly great full for all the help she has given us, but she is constantly trying to get his attention. I will be sat playing on the floor with him and she will call his name, get him to go over to her and then pick him up. It’s getting so frustrating. The final straw was today when he fell over and she immediately started calling him over to her. I wanted to cry when he went to her instead of me for comfort. FTM so I’m not sure if I’m just being overly sensitive.

Think she's forgetting the baby is yours not hers lol. I'm sure she means well but as you are living together you need to set firm boundaries now before it gets worse. Have a chat with her and let her know you'll ask for help when it's needed but you want to build on the bond that you have with your baby. There will be a time when the baby is more interested in others and you'll gladly want others to help (toddler tantrum age) but for now cherish the moments you have. If you are sleep deprived you can also use the opportunity to ask Grandma to look after him fully while you catch up on sleep if she's wanting to play with him by herself. Or you can go for a massage!
