Weaning

I’m jumping on from the May group! 👋🏻 My little girl is 6 months old and we’re struggling to find a routine with weaning. She’s dropped her milk intake considerably since we’ve started and I’m struggling to know how much to offer her food wise? What did your routines look like in terms of anount offered etc at this point? Thank you!

My boy is currently 7.5 months been weaning 2 months and loves his food but hasn't reduced his milk that much yet. We do 7oz 7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm. Breakfast around 8am normally porridge approx 4 tbsp oats or a whole weatabix or similar amount of toast/ pancakes with some fruit his favorite is a banana, lunch around midday maybe a pinwheel or toast or leftovers from yesterday dinner with fingers of cucumber, cheese, tomatoes etc. and dinner a version of what we are having around 5 ish sometimes mashed sometimes fingers foods but he'll eat around a small bowl worth and spread a similar amount everywhere at each meal too lol. I would just follow your little ones lead if she eats everything offered I normally grab something else they'll let you know when they are full. Just offer milk first as you don't want them missing too much milk at this age

My daughter is on 2 meals a day and hasn't dropped a bottle yet. We've been doing purees and lumpy textured foods not blw yet. She's had a whole weetabix or 4tbsp of oats /porridge. We've tried the following purees Avocado Banana Apples Broccoli Cauliflower and cheese Porridge Oats Weetabix Multigrain porridge Baby rice Carrots Potatoes

At 6 months I was offering 1 tablespoon of pureed food once a day and 9/10 that was enough for her. Mines now on two meals and it's roughly 1 to 2 table spoons of lumpy puree

How has she taken to food? As soon as my little guy had a few tastes he rejected milk and was screaming for food so we went to 3 meals quite quickly. I did a mix of finger foods and pouches to get enough calories from food in him as he didn’t drink any milk in the day but was then waking at night for multiple foods to catch up. After a few weeks he drank milk again and started having milk feeds in between meals. I still offered it in between meals when he was in the rejection phase x

I’m still trying to figure this out too and my little one has just turned 7months. He’s dropped bottles in the day but wants to make up for it at night time but I’m just following his league (I used to give dream feed before bed but I’ve cut this out, only giving milk when he cries for it) I don’t think he actually eats that’s much so I’m confused why he’s dropping bottles but must be getting something… new routine looks like this, he likes food first then milk so… 7:30 breakfast 9:30 bottle 12:30 dinner 2:30 bottle 5:30 tea 7:30 bottle it’s a stressful game but they know what/how much they need just be prepared for a lot of wasted food and milk lol

@Shenel she loves foods! Will eat a whole bowl of puree if I let her! But like yours, is waking up for more night feeds so struggling to find the balance x
