Alternatives to pushchair

Is anyone struggling to get their toddler in their pushchair? And they keep trying to get out and saying they want to walk? If so does anyone know of any good alternatives to a pushchair?

Does your little one still take naps while you’re out and about? We also found this with our little boy and we got a push along trike that turns into one they can pedal themselves when they’re older and he prefers being in that when we’re out over a pushchair, the only struggle is he can’t nap in it x

My baby went through a stage of tantrums in the pushchair so I started wearing him in a hiking backpack carrier (got it for £20 off marketplace just incase he also hated that). He sits in it happily and I’ve never had a tantrum from him in that. I think he likes it because he’s up high and can see everything. It’s also handy for the weekly shop. We look crazy wearing it in the supermarket but I get a stress free shop so I don’t care🤣 xx

We have a backpack carrier that we use for walks/hikes. He loves it (has sat for 3.5 hours before) and will sometimes sleep in it if he needs to. Otherwise I just let him walk and accept that I am going to be really really slow 😂

Thanks so much everyone for all the suggestions! My MIL thinks I should be showing my LO who is boss and being firm but they just don’t like the pushchair and it’s a battle! So it’s good to know there’s alternatives and I’m not the only one

Haha mine fusses in the buggy but equally refuses to walk most the time if it’s not the direction he wants to go 😂 so going out is just not fun!

What backpack carrier is everyone using? I need to get one but just don't know which is worth bothering with!

@Sophia I have the littlelife ranger, I got it 2nd to try it out before spending on a new one but ended up being amazing condition and we find it really comfortable so we’ve just stuck with the 2nd hand one. 10/10 recommend looking on Facebook marketplace

I’m just avoiding going places where the pram is needed on the days/times i have him. I run errands when he’s in nursery or when husband takes him out. Most he’ll be in the pram now is 20 minutes then he’ll just be out and I’ve taught him hands. Yeah it can be a bit inconvenient when things take 100x longer. But it’s important to validate their new found independence and let them explore. Absolutely hate the phrase ‘show them who’s boss’ it’s so harmful. The parent child hierarchy is not something that should still be a parenting approach

We had about 3 months of no pushchair and just using the backpack and recently I tried the pushchair again and he sits in it nicely again. They go through phases so don’t worry about having to ‘teach him a lesson’ ignore your mother in law you’re doing your best and nobody knows your child better than you❤️ there will come a time he will like the pushchair again xx

Thank you all for your words of advice and suggestions! And you’re right it’s all phases so maybe the pushchair will be fine in time!

Try a trike x
