Nanny employment contracts - anyone have experience of dealing with these?

Shortly initiating employment of what seems like a great lady found through an agency for live in part time hrs mothers help/ nanny position. Agency have sent over ‘sample contract’ that can be used. But having never done this before I’m wondering if anyone has any tips of what to look out for, or add or anything really with regarding to drafting the contract were imminently due to send over. Anyone really who’s had experience of employing similarly like this and any tips and advice would be gratefully received 🙏 Solo parent and no partner to bounce this off so feel like I’m going into this a little blind 😬.

I’ve got experience in this I was a nanny for 8 years if you want to drop me a message xx

I have au pairs. Some every 6 months, some. Stay longer. Not sure if that's similar to what you've got now. AU pairs are also live in, we have a contract and minimum wage. I think nannies are much more expensive. They only focus on the kids whereas an AU pair is like part of the family.

@Ghitta yep. My LO is 10 months so needed to go with a nanny of sorts. She has experience working with babies. Worked in nurseries, first aid certified etc. Sourced her through an agency. 35hrs a wk, live in, which was minmim hrs they could get someone for live in role. Felt like could have done with less hrs tbh but having some one live in was important for me as am solo / only parent household. With less in way of extended family. Wanted someone who would like you say become part of my daughters extended circle / day to day family life. She had trial with us and all was great. Starting officially after Xmas. Older bracket lady. My daughter really likes her. Is costing approx 26k gross a yr. agency fee on top with payroll services, garauntee to replace if need for any reason later on.

@Blaise Pearson thanks so much. Will drop you a message tomorrow if that’s okay xx

Sounds good. I had AU pairs from when my baby was 4 months but I work from home so she was never alone with the baby. Assuming you'd have to go in to work. Nothing much on the contract. Just stated hours (max 30hrs per week) and list of duties and if it doesn't work out, notice period from either side. As a live in au pair I also listed light housework, unpacking the dishwasher now and then, tidying u the kitchen, keeping bathroom. Clean after use etc. Just normal stuff you'd do if you shared say with your parents. Not sure if that helps.

For ages money you are paying and agency costs, can agency not provide a template contract to you?

@Hannah yes they do provide a sample. But wa ting to tweak it and check it’s ok. You can’t always trust a sample template contract from the provider. Always best to have a knowledgable seperate party to
