Small bump size

For reference I’m 39+3 weeks today… At 35 weeks my bump was measuring perfect at 35cm. At my 38 week midwife appointment it still measured 35cm so I got sent for a scan that day which everything was perfect and baby girl was measuring 6lbs 15oz which made her in the 44th centile. I then had a membrane sweep on Saturday and before she did that she measured my bump again and I was still 35cm at 39weeks so in 4 weeks my bump ‘hasn’t grown’ at all. She wasn’t concerned as I had been for my growth scan a week prior and everything was good. I don’t see her again until the 19th December which I will be 41 weeks (obviously if I make it that far) I’m just concerned that my bump hasn’t grown… anyone else had this and had a good size baby?

I had so many growth scans because they said she’d be small, then they told me oh she’s estimated 6lb 8 at 39 weeks, i went over til 42 weeks and she was 7lb dead on xx

honestly the tape used to scare the shit out of me and even the woman doing the scans said bloody ignore them, it’s not accurate , small bump doesn’t mean a small baby nor does a big bump mean a huge baby xx

Unusual for them to even do a tape measure after having a growth scan, take the scan results as the one to trust! Bump size has so many other factors influencing it, as long as your baby is moving and growing as they like and no concerns were raised at the scan I’d say nothing to worry about x

@Remee it didn’t used to bother me until I had to go for the growth scan… I think some people just carry their babies different tbh as I’m quite small both times but it just daunting to think my bump might not potentially grow at all by my next app and makes me think something is wrong x

@Jess the tape was a week after growth scan so I don’t know if that makes a different or not lol. That’s put my mind at rest though so I’m going to not think about it until my next app thank you xx

@Jess everything will be okay, exactly that everyone carries differently xxx

@Jess the trust here usually gives a minimum of two weeks between scan / tape measurements, which is why I think it’s a bit odd - even just the way baby is sat can impact the tape! Honestly try to put it out of your mind, take the scan as your true growth, and embrace these last couple of weeks x

Baby could be in different positions each time the measure or it could be a different midwife doing it?! They won't all measure accurately, it could be a couple of things. I would go by the growth scan. I'm due the same date as you! All the best ❤️

@Roseanna it’s always been the same midwife to measure, she doesn’t seem too concerned but obviously I was lmao😅 she did say it can be because she is so far down in my pelvis that’s why she’s measuring the same, so I’m just going to try not to worry about it anymore! Any time now with our babies!!

I was the same - every time the midwife measured me I measured too small - like 2nd centile, but everything looked good when I had the growth scans. I was told baby would be about 6 pounds. I had the final growth scan a week before I went into labour and a different sonographer did it. I explained everything previously and I thought she was totally wrong (and was being a bit cocky) when she said to me that her measurements are “usually very accurate”, and that I should expect that baby will be around the 8lb mark. He was 7lb 12oz so she was right - the bump measurements were just waaaaay off! Try not to worry, it sounds like your baby is just happily cocooned in there! x
