Can’t go into labour this week!

So yesterday my husband took my son to pick some balloons for my birthday tomorrow( he’s 2 so it’s so cute he’s been involved) but on the way back it was dark at 5pm and he hit a massive pothole and it’s damaged the cars suspension and wheel so now we have no car to actually get us to the hospital 🙈 the councils policy is you have to fix it then make a claim but can take 6 months which I think is ridiculous! (Going to call them today and explain I’m heavily pregnant). Luckily my brother is a mechanic so can fix the car fairly quickly but due to work himself can’t actually guarantee to fix it until the weekend and that’s if the damage is only what I can see. So stressful as I’ve been cramping loads and am high risk so now knowing I have no way to get there is awful. Also the ambulances round here are so overstretched when my son was ill (he’s 2) they were going to take 7 hours! So I have zero faith they would turn up before the baby arrived 😂🙈 no point to this really just needed a rant!

Oh no so sorry! So bloody typical and awful that it’s not remotely your fault. I know money doesn’t grow on trees but can you rent a run around for a week or two? We frequently rent cars cause my husbands family are American so we rent when they come over. You could probably get. A run around for a safety net for about £150 a week. Might make you relax abit

@Hannah thank you going to look into this as I’ve been needing to go to hospital every other day at the moment but that’s not possible now 🙈 we have a bit of savings that thankfully we can fall back on, but was meant so my partner could take a week off when baby is born (he’s self employed). It’s just so typical and the fact it’s such a long process now.

You could ask a neighbour/friend to run you down when the time comes. If your brother is a mechanic the garage might be able to lend you a car whilst yours is being fixed. If you’re high risk and home birth is not an option, speak to your midwife and see what your options are.

@Dilara my neighbours are elderly so I don’t think they would be able to help me. But I’m definitely going to ask some local friends. My brother is over an hour away but that’s a good idea to ask if I can borrow a car from them thank you!

Could you call up your insurance and see what they suggest may be the case that you have to make a claim and get the excess back later from the council. Might be able to get a courtesy car and at least you’ll have a car x

Get a taxi if needed

Thanks everyone. I’ve got a few friends on standby (just incase) and my brother has managed to get a day off tomorrow to come and attempt to fix the car (should be easy so long as no hidden damage) 🥹🥳. Alloy is being bent back into shape today as apparently was repairable. So may have my car back working tomorrow 🤞. Spoke to the council and they are fixing the road today as agreed with me how dangerous it was and was lucky no one’s been hurt yet and got their insurance details to make the claim once the cars fixed. Feel so much less stress now x

Oh that’s awful! My husband doesn’t drive so we had to get a taxi but if you’ve do need to ring in explain situation and they can provide transport. Hospitals have accounts with taxi companies and also patient transport
