Triggered by cat’s meow

Please no hate - I’ve seen how horrible some of the ladies are on here. I love my cat but I’m really struggling with the sound of her meow at the moment. Baby is 8 weeks old. It’s like the sound goes right through me. Like the sound of nails of a blackboard. Has anyone else ever had this? Does it end? It’s really triggering, like almost makes me angry? Again, I’m not here for the hate. Of you have nothing nice to say, move on by.

Have you heard of mum anger? It’s a real thing that means noises can trigger. Trust me it will subside as baby gets older. Try to calm down for now and maybe get cat a new toy or some treats. Just redirect in another room.

I was struggling so badly with this during my pregnancy as I was drained and worried how it is gonna be once baby is here. If you can get an automatic feeder and new toys and exciting stimulants for the cat is can help a lot!! You will get through this though, hormones will just make it a challenge currently but you’ve got this girl xx

Here to sympathise - still pregnant but my dog has this particular whine / grumble for attention that is absolutely doing my head in…I’m putting it down to general irks and hormones being up and down, and trying to remind myself she has no idea what’s going on x

I'm so with you my love. I have a gorgeous 1 old black cat that is literally like my first born but when I'm trying to sleep or get the baby down I hate it. He's always been so vocal which I love but my 5 month old is sensitive to sound. So I get it. It's just mum rage. It's normal.

Stay calm. Your cat has had a lot to adjust to and is probably struggling too. It’ll get better! x

@Maddie absolutely agree. It's all new to them and they're very consistent with routine and anything throws them off. Get some feliway plugged in and it'll calm them down. ❤️

My dog licking sends me absolutely psycho. Worst noise I’ve ever heard. Hopefully it’s ’mum anger’ and not me being a complete bitch 🥲

Just to clarify, I would never get angry at my cat, and appreciate this is a transition for them too!! Just feels like a really bizarre/alien response as the meowing has never bothered me before!! Hormones eh!
